it's 2 am and i'm laying next to somebody when i realize that when i think of a love i need, i look at this person and i don't even see their face. i want to hold their hand, but i stay still because i'm sad that even after all of this, i don't feel what i want to feel for them, and they feel just as blankly as i do. they need to go so we walk down the hall and we're in the elevator, and i feel so heavy and sad about what i know is going to be the last time. they wrap their arms around my shoulder and it's supposed to be comforting and gentle but i feel empty. i drive them home, and i feel like i'm losing someone that i put way too much of myself in. they can't give me what i need, and i can't fault them for that, so i kissed them goodbye, and i wrote this song.
